My first trip to Puerto Vallarta with my mother was in the '80s. Unsure of what to expect on a journey with her, and now forty years later, I am still returning to the identical villas I frequented in my twenties. The place holds a magical charm.

Ocho Cascadas, or Eight Cascades, is enchanting. I may not lead a five-star lifestyle, but staying there makes me feel like a first-class passenger for the entire week.

The villas offer a private pool, a personal chef, and massages as needed. While numerous activities fill your days, simply spending your evenings at the villas is the ultimate indulgence.

My life-long experience has been in the mountains of Conches Chinas, which is on the road to many of the adventures you can find on my link here (click on the photo). Do not miss the Botanical Gardens, it is worth a day trip with hiking trails, a swim in the river and an gastronomical lunch served on the balcony overlooking the mountains.
